News - Bi-Aura in The Irish News

When I hear the word 'aura' it conjures up images of people in psychedelic clothing giving peace signs and spewing forth phrases like 'Yeah man'. So it's no surprise that when I came across Lorna Martin manning a 'Bi-Aura Therapy' stand at the World of Women exhibition earlier this autumn, she caught my attention.

Martin could not be any further removed from the hippy stereotype. A small, conservatively dressed lady in her fifties, she looks like nothing more than a friendly librarian.

This is how I came to find myself standing in a candlelit room with Lorna moving around me in what appeared to be some kind of a bizarre ritual dance - it turns out that she was actually scanning my energy field.

But before you switch off completely; let me tell you a bit about the scientific evidence to support Bi-Aura therapy.

For centuries eastern traditions have believed in the existence of energy fields and centres inside and around the body. This energy, they claim, controls our health and how we feel.

Today the energy field that surrounds all of us - what some might refer to as our 'aura' - is even recognised by the World Health Organisation. It is this energy that forms the basis of Bi-Aura Therapy. Practitioners are trained to develop enhanced sensitivity to the energy and they work with it to make it flow more freely.

I was amazed that when Lorna started working on my aura she was able to pinpoint areas of tension without even touching my body. Just that day I had been complaining about having a sore neck and Lorna immediately told me that she was aware of problems in this area.

What's more, one side of my neck was much more tense than the other and she seemed to pick up on this because this was where she began her work and she spent much longer on this side than the other.

But while this in itself was impressive, what shocked me the most.was the sensation I felt when Lorna was working on the area. As she moved her hands along my outstretched arm - remember at no point did she actually make contact with my body - I could feel what I can only describe as a magnetic sensation.

It felt as though something was pushing down towards the end.of my fingers and as she moved along the length of the limb, pins and needles moved down my arm.

By the end of the session I was very relaxed, although I was aware of some pain and discomfort around my neck and shoulder area. I left Lorna's home in a much more positive frame of mind than that with which I had arrived and I slept like a baby that night.

The next day I was very aware that all the tension in my neck and shoulder muscles had vanished.

Lorna recommends that clients have a course of at least three weekly sessions.

Each session lasts roughly an hour and costs £30. For appointments contact Lorna Martin on 028-9042-3982.
